Den avlånga volymen sitter tyst i en skogsdunge norr om Stockholm, i ett område dominerat av sommarhus som konverterats till åretruntboenden. Byggnaden är inte synlig från bilvägen, utan uppenbarar sig först när man passerar förbi de höga svajande granarna på den norra delen av tomten.
Byggnaden etablerar sig på tomten likt en horisontell linje ovanför den kuperade terrängen, vilandes på lätta timmerpelare.
Planlösningen är baserad på en radikal idé om ett hus utan innerväggar. Detta uppnås genom en kärna innehållande kök, badrum samt alla nödvändiga tekniska installationer. Dess förskjutna position i plan genererar två rum i huset, ett mindre mer intimt rum som används som sovrum samt ett större öppet rum för matlagning och social aktivitet.
Om man blickar förbi björkarna och granarna nedför den södra delen av tomten uppenbarar sig längre bort en annan typ av landskap i den sluttande terrängen, långsamt böljande åkermark och sjön Lommarens avlånga silhuett. Byggnaden ramar omsorgsfullt i denna vy genom en sekvens av stora öppningar som skänker varje plats i huset sin egen bild av landskapet.

The small dwelling sits quietly in the middle of a carefully cleared forest plot north of Stockholm, in an area of summerhouses-turned-year-round dwellings. The building is not visible from the main road, appearing only as you break through the green wall of tall pine trees on the north part of the plot.
The building establishes itself as a horizontal line above the rugged topography, floating above the terrain on slender timber pillars.
The plan is based on a radical idea of a house without internal walls. This was solved through the development of a “functional core” containing the kitchen, bathroom, installations and technical spaces. The offset position of this core in plan generates two areas in the house – a more intimate space used as a bedroom and a bigger open space for cooking, eating and living.
When looking through the birches and pines on the southern end of the plot, another type of landscape appears further down the sloping terrain: gently undulating farmlands and the elongated silhouette of lake Lommaren. The building carefully frames this view through a sequence of large openings giving each function of the house its own snapshot of the landscape.
